#44 - Spring Reading Recap - On-the-go in Tuscany with peaceful bird chirping background

Hi everyone,
happy summer! I hope you have transitioned well into the (too) hot season. To wrap up spring I am bringing for my reading recap from a very special location - the little family-run hotel in Tuscany (Italy) that we love so much.

Author Mark Tullius and his family joined us in our travels and I took the chance to record an on-the-go episode in this beautiful surrounding that makes my heart feel so at peace. I had to laugh so hard editing this episode because I leave my original recording spot by the pool, walk to another area on the premises and the birds are going crazy in the background - the nature ASMR is real.

I had such a lovely time listening to this episode again, feeling the calmness of Tuscany coming over me and I sincerely hope that you experience the same while listening to it.

#43 - A Logo Refresh and Winter Reading Recap

Hello everyone,
winter is over and we are well into spring - nature is blooming, temperatures are rising and falling back and forth and I would say this means it is time to do a little reading recap of the past season!

I can't wait to share my more in-depth thoughts on the books I read in winter. We have strong 5-star-books, books that almost catapulted me into a reading slump, easy-to-consume manga and historical dramas in the mix.

AND on top of that I also wanted to chat a bit about my recent logo refresh. I adore the new color scheme and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I do, but I wanted to give you a bit of background on why I chose these colors and what mood I want to convey moving forward when people see my podcast logo.

Here is also the link to my Frankfurt book fair friend's bookish Instagram and her 'Sock Sunday': https://www.instagram.com/larryliebtbuecher/

I hope you had a great few reading months - let's chat again once spring is over what great reads came our way :)

#41 - The International Committee on...TWILIGHT feat. Jordanne & Ruby

Hi everyone!
The dark season is upon us and right on time the Child of the Library podcast is back with a new episode. I am super stoked to share this cool new project with you, which I hope to convert into a permanent format on my podcast.

'The International Committee on (in this case) Twilight' is a collaboration of three women across three countries talking about their experiences with a certain book series. I am so happy to have Jordanne from the Books To Last podcast on this team, as well as a new friend called Ruby from the US!

We had so much fun producing this, recounting our memories and comparing the impact Twilight had in our three corners of the earth.

If you want to follow along with us for the portion of the episode where we compare the book covers, here is the link to the presentation that we are referencing:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1CA-FY_abFwQ8NN9nruWTSlJvnr1hrOXEM00fJdlACOI/edit?usp=share_link

Come check out Jordanne over on all her channels:
https://jordannedunn.carrd.co
And if you want to find Ruby's podcast content you can visit the Murdermosas podcast. They are currently taking a break, but there is always a backlist catalogue, right?

And for everyone who is interested, this is the episode that the two of them recorded together over on Jordanne's podcast:
https://open.spotify.com/episode/70nm98bOtY4mUkCWs5pkOs

I hope you have just as much fun with this new format as Jordanne, Ruby and I!

And for everyone who stuck around until the end (also of these shownotes), here is the German translation of the covers:

Bis = until
Biss = bite
So the title "Bis(s) zum Morgengrauen" can mean "Until the dawn" or "Bite at dawn".

#39 - Battling my wanderlust - Books set in Japan

Welcome to the 'Child of the Library' podcast?! More likely welcome BACK!

I know it has been a while, but let's return with a banger.

First of all, it was really fun to record this episode during our holiday in Greece. I had my little traveling microphone with me that I had used for my first two episodes. And it was very rewarding to go to the beach afterwards, haha. But please excuse any background noise made by playing children or hard-working cleaning staff. And sorry for the spiking in the audio sometimes - it is a tiny mic after all :)
Secondly, I just really love this topic because it is one of my biggest dreams to go to Japan one day.

Here is the link to the book nook I built: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpaggaVIeSW/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng%3D%3D
So much 'Fuddelarbeit', I can tell you!

And here is the link to Barbara's boutique called 'Ble' on Zakynthos in Greece: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CsoiYGZMcdg/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng%3D%3D

#37 - 2 Year Anniversary - Book Cover Showdown 2022 feat. Jordanne from the 'Books To Last' Podcast

Hi everyone!
Two years already, can you believe it?

To celebrate this, Jordanne from the 'Books To Last' Podcast and I put together a very cool episode for you where we compare different book covers from around the world!

If you want to follow along with us, here is the link to the presentation that we are referencing:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ugEwX83KWB3XZ5Kf86RQyo0bpd7R_d4XrHl4bOMk6mc/edit?usp=share_link

You will find the main slides with the grey header and also additional context on the slides in between (I did not hide them in the end because I don't think you would have been able to see them then).

Come check out Jordanne over on all her channels:
https://jordannedunn.carrd.co
And take a look at her latest episode about her very first book panel:

For everyone who is interested, this is the article I mentioned about the cover design of 'Three Dark Crowns': https://www.epicreads.com/blog/three-dark-crowns-cover-design/
Editing this episode I have to admit I caved and bought the first book in the Taiwanese version. I don't entertain the prospect of ever being able to read it, but a girl can dream and look at the cover while doing so ;)

And while you are merrily being entertained by book covers, do yourself a favour and search for all of the Harry Potter Thailand editions, each installment is just a masterpiece in itself.

I hope you have just as much fun with this episode as Jordanne and I had :)

#36 - 10 Year China Anniversary

Hello everyone,
forget the magical mark of turning 30, you know you are getting older when your gap year experience has its 10th anniversary ;)

It is truly incredible how much has happened since and how my time in China has shaped me.
I dedicate this episode to Raquel, Riccardo and Paul - what a great time we had :)

I now also found out the name of the German athlete again - Britta Heidemann, how could I forget! Here is her Wikipedia page for everyone who is interested:

#35 - My book annotation journey & process

Over the past few years I really started to enjoy annotating my most favourite books to make them really my own and immerse myself in the story even more.

In this episode I will talk about the how and why and if you want to have a little bit of a visual support on top of this podcast episode, check out this Reel that shows you everything that I do:
